Wedding Inspiration

Emily and Justin - June 1, 2019

We love to share what #RosewoodCouples are doing with the property. Take a look at Emily and Justin's wedding - under our Wedding Inspiration series!

In Fall 2014, Emily Cousineau began a new job at JP Morgan. Little did she know, this job would lead her to her future husband, Justin Heggan. After a few years of working under the same roof, they began to take notice of each other in the beginning of 2016. By Labor Day, they were dating!

After dating for a few years, they revisited Schaefer’s Canal House, the location of their first date, for what Emily assumed would be a nice brunch.

The two were led to a table overlooking the water, covered with rose petals and glasses of champagne. “Life started moving very slowly but very fast in my mind at that moment,” Emily said.

Justin got down on one knee, and asked Emily to marry him. Emily happily agreed, and a crowd began to cheer. Upon a closer look, Emily realized it was a crowd of their closest family and friends. Overwhelmed with emotion, Emily began to cry, so happy to celebrate with those she loves.

Now engaged, it was time to start planning the wedding! Emily and her sister came to tour Rosewood while it was still under construction in June 2018.

On a rainy day, our Marketing Coordinator, Alicia, was able to bring Rosewood to life with the above watercolor map and a Powerpoint that were just what Emily was looking for.

She was excited by the idea of getting to see the transformation of the venue from beginning to end. It made the process all the more special.

Emily found the staff at Rosewood to be, “nothing short of friendly, accommodating, and hospitable.” The staff ensured the venue was a beautiful space that she could make all her own by adding personal touches for the big day.

On June 1, 2019, their wedding day at Rosewood Farms had finally arrived!

Emily and her bridal party took advantage of The Suite: a light and spacious setting to get ready and take pictures before the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Justin and his groomsmen prepared in The Lounge, sharing a drink at the bar and playing some pool.

After their ceremony, Emily and Justin took photos in the lower level of the Rustic Barn with their photographer, Ashley Kelly Photography.

The space uses the foundation of the original barn on the property. These are some of Emily’s favorite photos from the wedding because she loves "the texture of the old walls contrasting against our new dress/suite."

While Emily and Justin took more photographs by the pond, they could see their guests trickling in to cocktail hour in the Rustic Barn.

"I remember feeling so excited," Emily said, "that our guests were finally getting to see Rosewood and experience our favorite space (the bar below the Rustic Barn) and that everyone who was so near and dear to us were there to support and celebrate us."

For their cocktail hour, Emily and Justin made use of Rosewood Farms' fire pit and outdoor bar on the patio.

As guests made their way to the reception in the Rose Barn, they found their seats on displays made from window panes from Justin’s grandmother’s old house.

It was important to Emily and Justin that their day was full of small details that made the day even more special.

Inside, they had an elegant pink color scheme with grey accents, with their sweetheart table perfectly placed in front of the fireplace.

The newlyweds also utilized the projection upgrade to create a nice ambiance throughout their reception.

The milk and cookies table was a tribute to Emily and Justin’s grandmothers who couldn’t attend the wedding.

It also paid homage to Emily’s grandfather, who was a dairy farmer. Because Emily’s mother grew up on his farm, they felt a deep connection to Rosewood and its history as a dairy farm.

Their wedding cake, from Chef’s Expressions, was uniquely decorated  with a Philadelphia Eagles theme. Since Justin is such a huge Eagles fan, she thought it would a special touch.

"I love the idea of adding personalization everywhere," Emily said. You can see they also had a small black cat on their wedding topper that represented their cat, Shadow.

Emily and Justin also chose to include Rosewood Farms' antique photo booth for their guests so they could capture special moments all night long.

As the reception went on, everyone had a wonderful time. It was a night full of laughter and dancing, while celebrating the newlyweds.

It was a beautiful wedding, and Emily and Justin were so pleased with Rosewood Farms.

Take a look at the review she left on our Facebook page!

"My husband and I got married 2 weeks ago on June 1, 2019 and it was literally the best day of our lives. Backtracking to a year prior, Rosewood Farms was in the process of being built, with most of their buildings under major construction. The first time I went to the venue, I didn't know much about it and was curious to find out more. As soon as Alicia started talking to me about it, I instantly felt a connection to the vision board she created and wanted in. She showed us around the farm, explaining how the Rose Barn and Rustic barn would eventually look since what we were looking at were merely shells of buildings. Rosewood Farms was everything I was looking for - rustic, spacious, friendly, and unique! It is unlike any other venue in the area and it is beautiful. Katie, Alicia, and Chrissy were all absolutely wonderful to work with and made me 100% comfortable that Rosewood would be magnificent by the time my wedding came around. And they were so correct, it did not disappoint. We were so excited to share Rosewood Farms with our guests. The lower level of the Rustic Barn is our favorite spot which is where we had our First Look as well as Cocktail Hour. Katie was our day-of coordinator and the hospitality we felt from her was so impressive, she was so warm and welcoming to not only me and my husband but to my family, friends, and guests. They had nothing but positive things to say about her! If you want a venue that you can WOW your guests, have the most incredible views for pictures, have the most personable venue staff/team cheering you on, and can flex to your style and vision, then look no further! Rosewood Farms is the place to go!"
